Able Orchestra

The evolution of the Able Orchestra has been a remarkable story. The ensemble was borne out of a partnership between Orchestras Live and Inspire Youth. In 2014/15 young people with moderate to profound disabilities from Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools and colleges in and around Mansfield worked alongside professional sound and digital artists and members of the BBC Concert Orchestra. They have since developed a strong relationship with the Hallé (ranked amongst the world’s top symphonic ensembles) leading to a performance at the BBC Proms in 2016 at the Royal Albert Hall. Here you can see The Able Orchestra Live at BBC Salford Studios with composer Oliver Vibrans, Fountaindale School, Outwood Academy Portand, Portland College, Seashell Trust, The Minster School, Southwell, The Petebox, Halle Orchestra, Urban Projections, Digit Music, BBC Philharmonic, Ellie Slorach.
